New Technology & Exciting News Coming This Week

Rockstar DJ Dan Morrell

As one of the first DJs to give records a break and test out CDs for my DJ sets, being one of the early adapters on Serato Scratch Live, to even being the first DJ to launch the one man dj/ guitarist set, it’s obvious that I am a big fan of technology (yet I waited until this year before buying a mac, go figure!).

But, before I bore us both with reminiscing  about the past, I’m really excited to talk about the future. I’m constantly finding myself amazed by the new tools introduced to the market, performing functions that were impossible as recent as a few months prior. Thanks to some big advances in technology, I intend on making a big announcement this week that will add a new element to my career and hopefully inspire DJs through out the world!

While we are prepping my new project privately, I want to help DJs, artists, and anyone else interested in saving hours of time.  Starting with the most popular item on my site, my mixes page, let’s take a look at how the magic happens. After I do my weekly radio mixes for B96, I upload it to a server the station gets a copy and so does my podcast feed. To make this happen,  an .xml file is updated and uploaded containing all of the info pertaining to that mix (length, playlist, and etc). Feedburner.com grabs it from there and distributes to the world (including popular sites like iTunes, www.DanMorrell.com, www.MMTD.com and ect).

Once the RSS feed (sent out by feedburner to my site) updates, my site automatically posts it and then announces to my other social networking sites “Hey, Dan has a new mix up” and then automatically fires off an email to the people who requested to be notified when I upload a new mix. Since spending unbelievable amounts of time and lot’s of money to simplify the process, we have discovered a new site that was launched which does all of the social networking leg work for us.

SocialOomph, is probably the biggest time saver I have have come across in a while. You can schedule updates to any or all of your social networking sites and automate the process, so you are connecting with some fans while you are sleeping. But you have to be smart about it, or you will be as annoying as Homer Simpson’s auto-dialer.

There are literally 100′s of more time saving things that you can do with SocialOomph, and I encourage you to take advantage of all of them! If it helps you in any way,  I would love to hear about it!

Cheers,

Dan
